iPhone 4 og iOS 4 jailbreaket

Rundt klokken 01:00 norsk tid natt til mandag ble en jailbreak for den nye iPhone 4 lagt ut på JailbreakMe.com. Jailbreaken er enda enklere enn før med såkalt «untethered» som betyr at man ikke trenger å være tilkoblet en Mac eller PC for å legge inn Cydia. Jailbreaken fungerer også på alle andre Apple-enheter som iPod touch, iPad, iPhone 3GS og nedover.

Jailbreaken er utviklet av comex, som er medlem av iPhone Dev Team. Det var noen problemer med jailbreaken til å begynne med, der amerikanske brukere ikke fikk brukt FaceTime og MMS. Problemet ble løst noen timer etter den første versjonen ble lagt ut. Brukere som var tidlig ute med jailbreak må oppdatere via Cydia for å løse eventuelle problemer med MMS/FaceTime.

Som før gir jailbreaken kun tilgang til Cydia. Den låser ikke opp telefonen slik at man kan benytte et hvilket som helst SIM-kort – dette gjøres med en unlock. Ifølge planetbeing vil en unlock for iPhone 4 være klar innen 2 dager. For oss nordmenn som sitter med en amerikansk iPhone 4 er dette gode nyheter!

Det ble tidligere spekulert i ett nytt dev team etter at twitter-kontoen joshwrobel lovet jailbreak og unlock kalt shitra1n. Det hele viste seg å være en såkalt RickRoll.
