Apple kutter NDA

Salg på App StoreApple letter endelig på sløret og har nå valgt å kutte den omstridte non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for utviklere som deltar i Apples iPhone-utviklerprogram. NDAen og vilkårlig avvisning av programvare har satt sinnene i kok hos mange utviklere og har gitt Apple mye negativ omtale i media. I går offentliggjorde Apple et "brev" til sine utviklere hvor de forklarer hvorfor NDA har eksistert og hvorfor de nå kutter den.

Ifølge Apple var NDAen opprettet for å unngå at konkurrenter stjeler ideer fra Apple. Apple har flere hundre patentsøknader underveis for telefonen og Apple vil nødig at noen andre stjeler deres ideer. De fjerner allikevel NDAen nå fordi dette tydeligvis har gjort livet vanskelig for utviklerne, og uten utviklere blir det ikke mye god programvare for App Store.

Apple skrev følgende til sine utviklere (du kan også lese brevet hos Apple):

We have decided to drop the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software.

We put the NDA in place because the iPhone OS includes many Apple inventions and innovations that we would like to protect, so that others don’t steal our work. It has happened before. While we have filed for hundreds of patents on iPhone technology, the NDA added yet another level of protection. We put it in place as one more way to help protect the iPhone from being ripped off by others.

However, the NDA has created too much of a burden on developers, authors and others interested in helping further the iPhone’s success, so we are dropping it for released software. Developers will receive a new agreement without an NDA covering released software within a week or so. Please note that unreleased software and features will remain under NDA until they are released.

Dette er positiv fremgang fra apple:) Jeg begynte å bli bekymret på et tidspunkt..
Håper de fortsetter i samme retningen:)
