Apple og EMI dropper DRM?

Apples sjef Steve Jobs skal i følge Reuters holde en pressekonferanse sammen med EMIs sjef Eric Nicoli i London. Anledningen for pressekonferansen skal være lanseringen av et spennende samarbeid. Den velrenommerte avisen Wallstreet Journal hevder at Apple og EMI vil fjerne DRM fra all EMIs musikk på iTunes Store.

Alle analytikere stiller seg ikke på Wallstreet Journal sin side og sier at denne pressekonferansen kun er en lansering av Beatles sin musikk på iTunes Store, en milepel som Apple har arbeidet i lang tid for å få til.

Wall Street Journal har ved tidligere anledninger vært svært treffsikre i sin rapportering omkring Apple. Nettbrukere og musikkfans verden over venter derfor fortsatt i spenning. Skulle EMI og Apple fjerne DRM fra EMI sin musikk på iTunes, vil dette være den første spikeren i kista på DRM-teknologien.
