iPhone fortsetter å vokse

iPhoneResearchbyrået Gartner ga i går ut en report hvor det ble beskrevet hvordan salgstallene for håndholdte enheter har forandret seg fra 2008 til 2009. Selv om smarttelefoner stadig stjeler markedsandeler fra mobiltelefoner er Apple fremdeles ikke blant de fem øverste mobiltelefon-leverandørene, men de tar raskt innpå.

De fem største mobilprodusentene

  1. Nokia
  2. Samsung
  3. LG
  4. Motorola
  5. Sony Ericsson

Blant smarttelefon-leverandørene finner vi disse på topp:

  1. Nokia
  2. RIM (Blackberry)
  3. Apple
  4. HTC
  5. Fujitsu

Apple rykket opp fra 5. til 3. plass, forbi HTC og Fujitsu i tredje kvartal av 2008. Den plassen har de innehatt helt frem til nå. Det henger mest sannsynlig sammen med timingen på produktlanseringene til Apple,som f.eks: iPhone OS 3.0 og iPhone 3G S. Det rapporten også viser, er at Apple i det lange løp har hatt mye større suksess med sine lanseringer enn det HTC har hatt (for man kan vel ikke akkurat si at det har vært noen lanseringstørke hos HTC i mellomtiden).
Det Gartner i tillegg påpeker, er at rabatten på iPhone 3G som ble gjaldt mens 3G S var ny, pluss utvidelsene inn i nye land, har medført en ytterligere vekst i Apples favør.

Apple's expansion into a larger number of countries in the past year has produced a clear effect on sales volumes, as have the recent price adjustments on the 8GB 3G iPhone. Sales of 5.4 million units in the second quarter of 2009 indicated a 51 per cent growth in shipments and helped Apple maintain the No. 3 position in the smartphone market, where it has stayed since the third quarter of 2008. Apple brought its much-anticipated new device -- the iPhone 3G S -- to market at the end of the second quarter of 2009, but its full potential will only start to show in the sales figures in the second half of 2009.

Da gjenstår det å se om Apple klarer å opprettholde denne plassen blant smarttelefoner fremover i 2009. Det burde jo være en smal sak, siden [iPhone 3G S'] full potential will only start to show in the sales figures in the second half of 2009.

Er ganske bra gjort, med tanke på at de andre merkene har langt flere modeller enn Apple, + lengre erfaring!
